Hi there! I’m Liliya. I was lucky to visit London during my summer holidays. If you decide to visit London, there are many amazing places to see. One of the most impressive for me was Buckingham Palace. It has very beautiful architecture, and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.
The palace is located in the center of London and is the official residence of the British monarch. The original building, known as Buckingham House, was built in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham. In 1762, King George III bought it as a private residence for his family. Over the next 75 years, it was expanded and transformed into the palace we see today. The total cost of construction reached around 700,000 pounds.
Buckingham Palace has incredible 775 rooms, including 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices, and 78 bathrooms. With so many rooms, you could easily get lost inside! The building is not only large but also full of history and royal tradition.
One interesting fact is that the palace has its own post office, cinema, doctor’s office, and even a swimming pool. It also has its own police station! Another fun fact is that during World War II, the palace was bombed nine times, but the royal family stayed in London to support the people.
What I liked the most was the park around the palace. It’s a peaceful and beautiful place to walk and relax. The gardens are bright and colorful, with flower beds, shady paths, small waterfalls, and a lovely pond. I was surprised to see flamingos living there too!
Visiting Buckingham Palace was an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend seeing it with your own eyes, you will be amazed.
Hi Lilya! I read your post and was surprised! I never thought that Buckingham Palace had so many things, even a cinema, a swimming pool and its own police station. I would really like to walk the corridors of this palace.
