An Artist Known for Her Unique Artistic Style

Lilit Sarkisian (born June 29, 1990) is an artist, entrepreneur, founder of the LILIT ART STORE and the educational art platform ART ADDICTED.

Lilit Sargsyan (often spelled as “Sarkisian” in some sources) is an Armenian-born artist known for her unique and colorful artistic style. She is particularly recognized for creating vibrant, imaginative illustrations and designs. Sargsyan’s work is often inspired by nature, folklore, and cultural themes, blending traditional and modern elements.

She has gained attention for her work on the Silpo supermarket designs, where her illustrations decorate various stores, bringing a distinctive and artistic touch to the environment. Her artwork can be seen in several Silpo locations, contributing to the store’s special thematic and artistic atmosphere. Sargsyan’s designs often include elements of Ukrainian and Armenian culture, adding depth and narrative to the spaces she decorates.

While she is best known for her work in commercial art and interior design, her broader portfolio includes various types of visual art, from painting to illustration, each showcasing her creative and imaginative approach to storytelling through visual means.

Lilit Sargsyan has decorated over 70 Silpo supermarkets with her unique illustrations. Each of these stores features a thematic design created by her, adding artistic and cultural value to the shopping experience. Her work is an integral part of Silpo’s branding, contributing to the special atmosphere that each store aims to offer.

Biography

Lilit Sarkisian emigrated from Armenia to Ukraine with her family at the age of 3, fleeing from the war, the aftermath of the earthquake, and poverty. At 16, she enrolled at the Institute of Philology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv to study Ukrainian studies and began working. Her first job was at the Ukrainian Fashion Week, where she started as a hostess and later worked as a fashion editor.

From 2009 to 2015, Lilit published the international magazine TheNorDar, focusing on art and culture of various nations. In 2015, the magazine’s social project “POMISHANI” was ranked among the top 3 projects in Ukraine by Forbes, marking the end of its self-publishing phase. During this time, Lilit continued painting.

Before entering university, Lilit painted with oil paints for many years, but later switched to watercolor. Spending much time in the fashion industry, she began creating fashion illustrations. Her career as an artist began in 2010 with these illustrations.

In 2010, Lilit presented an illustration exhibition at the Ukrainian Fashion Week at the Mystetskyi Arsenal exhibition center. Her first commercial commission came after the exhibition: an invitation to a designer’s show.

From 2010 to 2014, Lilit created numerous illustrations for clothing designers, runway collections, brand books, invitations, and window displays.

In 2015, she launched her first collection of postcards with illustrations in wooden packaging, later creating her own clothing collection with original artwork. In 2016, she opened the LILIT ART STORE, selling designer merchandise.

In 2017, Lilit became an ambassador for the international jewelry brand PANDORA, and that same year, she became an ambassador for HUAWEI. Official themes with Lilit’s paintings appeared in the Android official store, a collaboration that only two Ukrainian artists have realized.

In 2019, at the invitation of Huawei, Lilit traveled to China for the HDC 2019 global exhibition to present her work and her collaboration with the brand.

In February 2019, Lilit participated in Milan Fashion Week, where she organized an interactive event – painting a large wall mural during designer collection presentations.

In 2021, Lilit earned a second higher education degree – an MBA. She still does not have formal art education.

In 2022, Lilit designed the interior and exterior of a “Silpo” supermarket in Kaniv, Ukraine, covering 1500 square meters.

Projects

Lilit Sarkisian has painted over 40 walls in private and commercial spaces around the world. Her works are in private collections in Kyiv, Sumy, Odesa, Yerevan, Tbilisi, Minsk, Paris, Milan, and Dubai. Her boldest project was a trip to the UAE at the invitation of the daughter of the Sheikh of Dubai, Fatima Al Maktoum, to paint horses in November 2019. Her most unusual project was painting a life-sized plaster cow for the “Milk from the Farmer” network of establishments. The shortest project was painting a wall in a new house in Bucha, which was later destroyed by a russian cruise missile two years later.

Masterclasses: Lilit Sarkisian held her first masterclass in 2014, and since then, she has conducted over 50 workshops in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Yerevan, Tbilisi, Minsk, Milan, and Düsseldorf.
