Silpo, My Favourite Shop

Hi there! I’m Vlad and today I’ll tell you about my favourite shop.

My favourite shop is called Silpo, a supermarket. It is part of a chain of stores located all over Ukraine. In my town, Silpo is near the town centre. I usually visit it with my parents or alone. Sometimes, I also like hanging out there with my friends.

It’s Interesting to Know

Silpo is one of the biggest supermarket chains in Ukraine, founded in 1998. It has over 300 stores, including 4 delicatessen Le Silpo markets. The chain is part of Fozzy Group, one of the largest business groups in Ukraine.

What makes Silpo stand out is that each store has its own unique theme and design. There are now more than 70 themed supermarkets and 4 Le Silpo gourmet stores, each with its own special vibe. Even the staff rooms match the themes of the stores! Some stores are styled after the Mavka universe, music, Jamaican culture, or even a playful “cat theme.” The design team also gets ideas from Van Gogh’s paintings, classic rock music, Asian culture, and the history of Podil, among other things.

Silpo’s creative designs have earned it a spot on Europe’s Finest Store, a list of the coolest and most innovative store designs in Europe by European Supermarket Magazine. In 2021, three stores were featured: one inspired by The Little Prince, another designed like 1950s America with diners, and Silpo Re Cycling, a store built with eco-friendly technologies to promote sustainability and care for the planet.

The shop is medium-sized, with just one floor. The walls are painted grey, and many of them are decorated with beautiful paintings.

All Silpo supermarkets feature unique designs. The Silpo in Kaniv is no exception; it follows the concept of “The Magic of Flowers,” and visitors will shop in a truly fairytale-like atmosphere. In this supermarket, you can see the flowers of Ukraine from the pages of Taras Shevchenko’s Kobzar. The illustrations in the store were created by the artist Lilit Sarkisian, whose works also adorn places in Paris, Milan, Tbilisi, Yerevan, Kyiv, and now, Kaniv.

The atmosphere in my favourite shop is cozy, with soft background music.

Being a supermarket, Silpo has everything you might need. I like this shop because of its large selection of products and the small café inside, where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. Another reason I love my favourite shop is the friendly staff. The cashiers are kind and always ready to help. The discounts at Silpo are amazing; every Thursday, new discounts and offers are available.

The shop is always clean and well-maintained, making shopping there a pleasant experience. It’s easy to navigate, too.

In addition to Silpo, the building also houses three small shops: “Family,” which offers various goods for your house, a clothing store, and a chemist’s.

In conclusion, Silpo is my favourite shop because it offers a wide range of products, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere. It’s a great place to relax or shop for everything you need.
