Job of a Social Worker

A social worker is a person who works for the social services or for a private organization providing help and support for people who need it. Social workers help individuals, families, and communities deal with challenges such as poverty, illness, mental health issues, and social injustices. They provide support, resources, and advocacy to improve well-being and promote social change. Social work is important in society.

Social workers

  • talk to clients to understand their problems and what they need help with
  • provide support: listen to clients, give advice, and help them feel better when they are sad or stressed
  • make sure clients get important things like a safe home, medical care, or schooling
  • create special plans to help clients reach their goals and improve their lives
  • work with doctors, teachers, or police to give clients the support they need
  • check how clients are doing and change the plan if more help is needed
