Fim Review: Mavka
Hi, I’m Nastia. I’d like to share with you my impressions of the last film I’ve seen. It is Mavka, a Ukrainian computer-animated fantasy comedy-drama cartoon based on the play The Forest Song by poet Lesya Ukrainka. It is directed by Oleh Malamuzh and Oleksandra Ruban. The film draws inspiration from Ukrainian and Slavic folk mythology. The film premiered in Ukraine on March 2, 2023.
This computer animation film is about a kind and innocent creature named Mavka who lives in a magical forest. Mavka wakes up in the spring and wakes up the other magical spirits in the forest.
There’s also a musician named Lukas, and he wants to save his sick uncle Leo. To do that, he goes into the mysterious and forbidden forest to find a special tree called the tree of life. But there’s a mean character named Kylina who wants to use the tree’s power to stay young forever. Kylina tries to stop Lukas and Mavka from being friends.
Kylina makes the villagers angry at the forest spirits, and they start fighting. Mavka, who is the guardian of the forest, gets powerful fiery magic to protect her friends. But then her power gets taken away, and a big dangerous fire happens in the village.
Thankfully, Lukas’s music and a song they all sing together wake up Mavka again. She stops the fire, and everyone is safe.
I enjoyed this exciting movie because the plot is gripping, the computer animation is stunning, the voice acting is brilliant and the soundtrack is catchy. There are some truly touching scenes that will make you cry. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes emotional stories, music and adventure. The movie is very interesting and it can entertain audiences of all ages, so you will not be disappointed. It’s a great movie that will make you happy!
