Write a paragraph about your favourite painter

Hello! I’m Dasha. The world of art is vast, with countless artists and their masterpieces spanning many centuries. Among them, there is one painter who has captured my heart: Pablo Picasso.

Pablo Picasso, a Spanish painter, sculptor, and theater designer, spent most of his adult life in France. His full name is rather long, consisting of 23 words: Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. Picasso is renowned for co-founding the Cubism movement, co-inventing collage, and his wide range of artistic styles. His extraordinary talent shines through his unique style of painting, which is what truly captivates me. One of his most famous artworks is the painting ‘The Old Guitarist’.

The Old Guitarist’

‘The Old Guitarist’ is a painting by Picasso inspired by his trips to Spain. It shows a thin man holding a guitar, with his head down and eyes closed. The sunken cheeks suggest he may be poor, finding solace only in his guitar.

Picasso used dark blue colors, giving the painting a sad feeling. The colors make it look flat and two-dimensional. The man and his guitar seem timeless, without a specific time or place. However, Picasso painted the guitar in brown tones, showing that even in sadness, the guitar brings warmth and comfort.

Unlike other sad figures in Picasso’s blue period, the guitarist has a spiritual escape through his instrument. His long limbs and awkward pose are like those of El Greco, a Spanish artist Picasso admired. Though his head is down, it might not be from sadness, but from being lost in the music he loves.

In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that Pablo Picasso is undeniably one of the most renowned artists of the 20th century, deserving his esteemed status.  Pablo Picasso is not only a celebrated artist but also an inspiration for artists around the world. His innovative approach to art and his ability to break boundaries can serve as a valuable lesson. Picasso’s artistic journey was marked by constant experimentation and a willingness to challenge traditional norms. His diverse range of artistic styles, from Cubism to Surrealism, teaches us the importance of thinking outside the box and pushing artistic boundaries. Despite facing obstacles and criticism, he remained committed to his art and continued to create remarkable works throughout his life. This perseverance and determination teach us valuable lessons.
