Exam in Mind Level B1/B2

Hi there! I’m Veronica and this is my letter to a friend concerning places to visit in Ukraine.

Hi Steve,

I hope this message finds you well. In response to your question about places to visit in Ukraine, I have compiled a list of some remarkable destinations that I believe are worth your attention and time. Ukraine boasts a diverse range of captivating locations, both natural and historical, which offer unique experiences. Here are a few places that I would recommend exploring:

Optimistic Cave
Located in the Ternopil region, specifically in the Borshchiv district near the village of Korolivka, the Optimistic Cave is an extraordinary natural wonder. It holds the distinction of being the longest gypsum cave in the world, spanning approximately 260 km. Surprisingly, this cave remains largely unexplored, adding to its allure. Among its intriguing features is an underground lake, which I’m eager to witness firsthand.

Lake Lemurivske
Situated in the Kherson region, Lake Lemurivske is a mesmerizing pink lake often referred to as the Ukrainian Dead Sea. The lake’s salinity reaches an astonishing 300 grams per liter of water, surpassing the Dead Sea’s salinity by 50 grams. The high salt concentration allows visitors to experience remarkable buoyancy while floating in its waters, offering a truly unique and rejuvenating experience.

Aktiv Canyon
Known for its breathtaking landscapes, Aktiv Canyon is a natural gem in Ukraine. Located in the picturesque Carpathian Mountains, it offers stunning views of cascading waterfalls, deep gorges, and lush greenery. Adventurous activities like hiking, rock climbing, and canyoning are popular among visitors who seek an adrenaline rush amidst this scenic wilderness.

Dovbush Rocks
Nestled in the Carpathian Mountains, the Dovbush Rocks are a collection of majestic rock formations shrouded in captivating legends. These towering rocks have been sculpted by natural forces over thousands of years, creating an awe-inspiring landscape. Legend has it that the rocks were once a refuge for the legendary Ukrainian outlaw Oleksa Dovbush, adding an element of mystique to the site.

Tustan
Tustan is an ancient fortress located in the Lviv region, offering a glimpse into Ukraine’s rich historical heritage. This medieval complex consists of stone structures perched on cliffs, providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Exploring Tustan allows you to immerse yourself in the history and culture of Ukraine while appreciating the stunning natural beauty of the region.

These are just a few examples of the remarkable places that Ukraine has to offer. From captivating natural wonders to historical landmarks, the country is brimming with hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. I hope this inspires you to embark on an unforgettable journey through Ukraine’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage.

I eagerly await your response and would love to hear about any recommendations or thoughts you may have.

Best wishes,

Veronica
