Hello! I’m Karina and I love animals. This year, 2022 is the year of tiger. My favourite animals are tigers because they are strong and beautiful. I know some interesting facts about tigers biggest cats.
Tigers Biggest Cats
Tigers are the largest wild cats in the world. They can weigh up to 363 kilos and they can be as long as 3.3 metres.
Today, there are five subspecies of tiger: the Bengal tiger, South China tiger, Indochinese tiger, Sumatran tiger and Amur tiger (also known as Siberian tiger). Sadly, three subspecies of tiger have become extinct – the Caspian, Bali and Javan.
Tigers have over 100 stripes on their fur and on their skin. Every tiger has their own pattern on their fur. Tiger stripes are like human fingerprints. No two tigers have the same stripe patterns. They are all unique! White tigers are very rare.
Tigers eat only meat. They are carnivores. They feed on such big animals as deer, wild pigs, antelope and buffalo. They usually hunt alone and at night. They are fast, strong and dangerous hunters. They can eat 30 kilograms of meat at a time.
Tigers unlike other cats love the water. They can swim to hunt or cross rivers. Tigers are good swimmers!
Tigers give birth to two or three cubs at a time. Their cubs are blind and helpless.
A tiger’s roar can be heard as far as three kilometres away.
Tigers can run up to 65 kilometres per hour.
Tigers are in trouble and need our help to protect them.
