Dear Scarlett,
I believe, that you spent amazing time in Ukraine, and didn’t have any problems here. My mum and I are so glad, that you liked Ukrainian cuisine and our home specialty – Ukrainian pyrizhky or pies. I promised to write you the recipe. You would like to cook Ukrainian pyrizhky with your friends. So off we go!
Firstly, prepare the ingredients. You will need:
- flour 500 g
- milk 200 ml
- butter 100 g
- sour cream 100 g
- sugar 2 tbsp.
- vanilla sugar 1 pack
- chicken eggs 1
- dry yeast 7 g
- For filling: pitted cherry 500 g and some sugar
- For lubrication: chicken eggs
You will need some equipment. You should use some bowls, a baking sheet, a spoon and an oven, of course.
Now, I’ll give you the instructions how to cook.
Mix flour, sugar, dry yeast, milk in a bowl and leave this mixture for 15 minutes in a warm place.
Then, mix butter, eggs, sour cream and add a mixture, you have made before. Mix everything thoroughly, adding flour.
Then, leave it for some minutes to let the dough become bigger. Make small circles from dough, and put pitted cherries inside. Connect the edges of the dough together and put the pies on a baking sheet. Beat the egg in a bowl, brush over the pies, and place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake in a preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
I’d like to mention, that Ukrainian pyrizhky taste very delicious with a cup of tea. You can invite your friends to try pies, I’m sure, they will like them!
If you have any questions, I’ll always ready to help you. Wishing you good luck in cooking.
Best wishes,
Dasha
