Конструкція to be going to в англійській мові вживається часто, тому правила її утворення потрібно знати. На українську ця конструкція зазвичай перекладається як мати намір, збиратися, планувати.
Конструкція to be going to. Що необхідно запам’ятати?
To be going to + дієслово вживається:
- коли ми повідомляємо про події у найближчому майбутньому, якщо мі впевнені, що вони відбудуться: They are going to move into a new flat.
- якщо ми повідомляємо про наші наміри та плани на найближче майбутнє: The weather is wonderful, so we are going to have a picnic.
Стверджувальна форма складається з допоміжного дієслова to be у Present Simple (am, is, are) + going + форма інфінітиву (перша форма) смислового дієслова з часткою to.
I am going to buy a pen. He is going to study English. We are going to play football. You are going to take German this year. They are going to visit their granny.
I am going to study English.

У заперечних реченнях до дієслова to be (am, is, are) додається частка not: am not (“m not), is not (isn’t), are not (aren’t).
I’m not going to buy crayons, I’m going to buy a bottle of glue. He isn’t going to study French, he is going to study English. They aren’t going to play volleyball, they are going to play basketball.
I’m not going to study German.
You aren’t going to study German.

У питальних реченнях дієслово to be (am, is, are) ставиться на початок речення.
Are you going to study Maths? Is she going to dance? Are we going to do shopping? What am I going to buy? What is he going to do?
Am I going to study French? – Yes, I am / No, I’m not. Yes, you are. / No, you aren’t.
Are you going to study French? – Yes, I am / No, I’m not. Yes, you are. / No, you aren’t.
Is he going to study French? – Yes, he is. / No, he isn’t.
Is she going to study French? – Yes, she is. / No, she isn’t.
