Have practice in writing a semi-formal letter.

You have just returned from Britain where you attended lessons at Summerhill Language School. The school arranged for you to stay with a local couple you hadn’t met before your visit. Write a letter to your host family. First thank them for having hosted you and describe

Wrte a letter of at least 100 words. Do not write your own name, any dates, addresses or other personal information. Start your letter in an appropriate way.

Dear Mr and Mrs Smith,
I am writing to tell you the words of great thankfulness for your hospitality. It was very kind of you to host me during my studying at a language school.

To begin with, I felt very comfortable staying with you. I enjoyed so much your family traditions of celebrating Christmas when all your big family gathered in your home. I liked the festive Christmas atmospehere of carolling. Besides I will never forget the joy of making Christmas decorations. I  would like to express my gratitude for the wonderful Christmas gift, Oxford dictionary, which will help me enrich my vocabulary. Thank you for being so thoughtful. Without doubt family celebrations can unite any family.

As for the local food, I was especially impressed by the famous Christmas pudding. I couldn’t believe that there were so many ingrediends in it. Thank you for sharing the recipe with me, my mom will try to cook it. Moreover, I realized my dream to taste roasted turkey and I was not disappointed because it was very delicious.

Finally, one of the most unforgettable trips was to London. It was fantastic to see with my own eyes such places as the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. The warmest regards to your family.

Yours faithfully,

Thomas Muller
