I didn’t know much about Washington D.C., so it was useful for me to read this post. The city has a lot of different museums and monuments. It was interesting for me why the letters D.C. are added. I found out that in order not to confuse the city with the state of the same name in the north-west of the country, Americans call the city Washington D.C.
