Have Practice in Writing an Informal Letter

Write a letter to your friend about the impressions of reading an English book.

Write

  • who the author of this book was
  • what the name of this book was
  • whether the book had any illustrations
  • why you liked this book.

Dear Max,
I’m sorry I haven’t written you for ages. The matter is I had no time before because I was very busy at school. I had many books to read. Those books were William Shakespeare’s tragedies “Macbeth”, “Hamlet” and “Romeo and Juliet”.

William Shakespeare is one of the world’s greatest writers. His books are truly immortal and have been translated into many languages. To tell the truth, I was greatly impressed by these sad stories. Life itself is shown in Shakespeare’s plays. They are about the great issues of life – love, hatred, power, ambition, death and so on.

I liked “Romeo and Juliet” most of all. I’m sure it’s the most famous story in the world, which tells about true love of two teenagers. I remember the last words of this tragic story: “For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo”.

All the books are beautifully illustrated. In general, I admired reading these books, their plots, the characters and the style. I strongly recommend you to read them.

I hope to hear from you soon. My best regards to all members of your family.
Keep in touch,
Artem
