International Day for Protection of Children, is observed in many countries as Children’s Day on June 1 since 1950.
The four core principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by UN General Assembly are:
- non-discrimination;
- devotion to the best interests of the child;
- the right to life, survival and development;
- and respect for the views of the child.
Children in any country are the future of the people and nation.
Children’s Day means not only the first day of the summer, but something more for children’s future. It is the day to honor children globally.
On this occasion Ukrainians organize various events. There are lots of contests and concerts in towns and villages and in big cities of Ukraine. People try to convey to the kids a few simple ideas: the world is not so bad, there is a place for joy and gladness, justice always prevails and kindness can be found not only in fairy tales.
