Welcome to my native town Kaniv

I live in Kaniv. It is a small town in the central part of Ukraine. Our town is old, green and beautiful. It is more than 900 years old. Kaniv stands on the River Dnipro, the biggest river in Ukraine. There is a hydroelectric power station on the Dnipro River and my father works there. Kaniv is very beautiful in all seasons.

There are some beautiful sights in Kaniv. There is Uspensky Cathedral in Kaniv. It was built in 1144.

There is a museum of decorative folk art. There are lots of beautiful things made by artists and craftsmen there.

There is Gaidar Library- Museum. There are a lot of books for children there.

There is Shevchenko Museum on Tarasova Hill. There are a lot of beautiful paintings there. Taras Shevchenko is a great Ukrainian poet and artist. Taras Shevchenko was buried in Kaniv. His grave is on Tarasova Hill. Lots of people put flowers to his monument.
