Are you for or against zoos?

Some people think that zoos are out-of-date and cruel institutions that should be closed down. Are you for or against zoos?

I’m for zoos.

First of all, zoos are educational. They provide visitors with lots of educational programmes.

Secondly, zoos take part in survival projects. They protect rare specimens and are important in the conservation of endangered wildlife.

Thirdly, they give people a unique opportunity to see wild animals.

Finally, a zoo can be the only place where rare or disappearing animals could be saved.

In my view, zoos perform a useful and important role in our society. But I’m for safari parks because animals live in the open there. Visitors can be inside the park in car or on safari buses and watch the real wildlife.
