April 22 is a special day around the world.
On that day inhabitants of Earth celebrate Earth Day.
Earth Day is a time when many people show that they care for our fragile planet. They show concern about the threats the planet faces – destruction of the rain forest, holes in the ozone layer, the greenhouse effect, too much garbage, and all forms of air and water pollution. It is a day for people to learn what they can do to preserve the planet Earth.
The first Earth Day was held in the U.S. in April 1970. At that time Americans were just beginning to learn about the problems facing the planet.
The deer, the horse, the great eagle, these are our brothers … The Earth is our Mother … all things are connected like the blood which unites the family. Franklin Pierce
It is very good that there is such a day as Earth Day. Our class cleaned the territory nearby school. I raked the leaves. I love my planet!
It is very good that there is such a holiday as Earth Day. I drew a picture devoted to Earth Day, it was at our school exhibition of students’ projects. In my picture you can see our planet Earth and the sprout. Our class took part in “green” activities. We cleaned the street not far from our school: raked the leaves, collected sticks and rubbish. I raked the leaves. I want my hometown be clean. I love my planet!
